What is the PE and sport premium?
The PE and Sport Premium is designed to help primary schools improve the quality of the PE and sport activities they offer their pupils.
This funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, and Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to schools to be spent on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children. All state-maintained schools, academies, middle schools, special schools and pupil referral units which have primary aged pupils will receive the funding.
What has been allocated to Denton CP School?

How will we be improving PE and sport provision at Denton?
After an audit of PE and sport here at Denton, it was decided that our aims for the school are as follows:
- Inclusive ethos of PE and sport regardless of sporting ability.
- Gifted and Talented pupils are able to showcase their ability in sporting competitions with other schools and teams.
- Staff have access to training opportunities and continued professional development.
- No child will be excluded from any sporting activities regardless of financial background.
- To ensure that as a school we make effective use of collaborative and partnership working.
This rationale forms the basis for our use of PE and sport premium funding. Please see the document PE and Sport Premium Expenditure at the bottom of this page for details of exactly how the funding is being spent at Denton.
Much of our allocated money has been used to provide a high quality PE Coach in every Key Stage 1&2 class, provided by Unique Sports. This has been hugely successful and the children thoroughly enjoy the sessions. See what they had to say:
