Links with secondary schools
We have close links with Seahaven Academy, Seaford Head and Peacehaven Community School. Our teachers meet regularly with staff from threse schools and we have a familiarisation programme for teachers and pupils in the term before they transfer to secondary school to ensure a smooth transition.
Parents/carers are always welcome to visit our school on a formal or informal basis before their child starts school and pre-school children and are also invited to attend events at the school.
Children in the early years of their education are very much a part of our whole school. We are delighted that our Nursery Class is now well established, offering the community an additional pre-school facility, which means the school is available for children from 3 to 11 years. The Early Years and Foundation Stage programme of work and experiences through play is fully in place in the Nursery and it reflects the Early Learning Goals intended for use in Playgroups, Nurseries and Reception Classes. A leaflet offering guidance to parents/carers and the school’s philosophy on the Early Years and Foundation Stage is available from the school office. The Nursery Manager and other staff hold NNEB/NVQ3 qualifications. In addition, we have a Nursery Class Teacher (with Qualified Teacher Status) in the setting.
