On a wet and windy 5th November Thursday afternoon our mighty girls' football team set off to defend their title as champions of Newhaven, Telscombe and Peacehaven in the annual girls football tournament hosted by Seahaven Academy. Our first match saw us up aganst local rivals, Harbour. Both teams battled hard but Denton eventually took the game by the scruff of the neck ony to be denied a winning goal by Harbour's impressive defence, and the game finished 0-0. Next it was Meridian and this time Denton's dominance was rewarded with a well taken goal: 1-0 Denton! Then we played Telscombe. This was a terrific match with lots of chances for both teams, but alas, the deadlock was eventually broken by an impressive long range effort from Telscombe's star player, which she then promptly followed up with another: 2-0 Telscombe. The girls did not allow the defeat to dampen their spirits and they ended with two excellent performances against Peacehaven Heights I and II teams. The first game we won 5-0! Before we beat their other team 1-0. A fantastic effort and an overall finish of 2nd - very well done girls!
