Home Learning

Home learning for Years 2, 3, 4 and 5 in Term 6

As you will be aware, Denton CP School has opened to children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6, and we are continuing to support key worker and vulnerable pupils in other year groups. In order to support the much smaller class sizes needed, we will require all the teachers and staff from the other year groups to be in school teaching. This will have an unavoidable impact on the support for home learning.

As such, we are asking that you continue to support your child’s learning and development through these daily learning activities:

 Reading

In term 6, we would like you to continue to read with your child for a minimum of 5 minutes a day. We believe that this is an incredibly important part of your child’s learning, and will prepare them well for their eventual return to school.

 BBC Bitesize and Oak Academy

For home learning in term 6, we are recommending the BBC Bitesize website. Here, you will find a set of activities for each day and for each year group. The activities have been designed by teachers working alongside respected educational agencies, and cover most areas of the curriculum. Some activities may use worksheets, although pupils should be able to copy down the answers on a separate piece of paper without needing to print off the sheet. If you require the activities to be simpler or more challenging, you can easily access the sections for different year groups. Oak Academy also offers well-designed lessons created specifically for home learning; just click on the age group and subject area for a wide selection of activities. You can find links to BBC Bitesize and Oak Academy below.

If you are stuck with anything you can always email or message your teacher through class dojo. Please be aware that due to their full-time roles in school that they may not be able to respond straight away.

 Physical Health

It is vital that children get some fresh air and a daily burst of exercise for their physical health, as well as their mental wellbeing.

The Government has issued advice on learning at home. Click on the link below to find out more.
