Starfish (Year 5)
Hello Starfish parents and carers. Thank you for visiting our class page. We hope to give you a few ideas about activities you can can do with your Year 5's when they are not learning at school. Anything you can do will be of benefit to your children as we have no information as to when everyone will be back at school. We thank you in advance for your patience and support.
Year 5 home learning
We would like the pupils to keep learning their times tables facts; their old usernames and passwords should still be ok for TTR, so try to get a daily session in, no matter how short. Every little helps!
It would also be of great benefit for pupils to use their time at home to learn as many of the words on the Y5/6 list. This will really help them when they get back to school, whenever that might be. I have included the list on this page.
Please read as often as you can with your child. The sequel to our very popular class reader will be out in May, so get your order in! (It's titled 'Gargantis' by Thomas Taylor).
We have given each child an exercise book to use however they wish. It would be a great opportunity for the children to record the developments of the Coronavirus Pandemic, or simply to write about what they have been up to.
You will find links to useful websites on the main page of the school website. I would like to recommend in particular the materials on the 'Mathematics Mastery' site; well-constructed activities that really support learning and understanding.
If there is any work that you would like to send me, either put it on the class pages of 'Dojo' or email it to me at email@example.com. Thank you!
PS Mrs Dicksee has managed to find a great lesson on 'families and friends' that you could do at home; have a look at the lesson plans that I have put up on this page and give it a go! It's particularly good if you are really missing your family and friends.
