Starfish (Year 5)

Welcome to the Starfish page! This is where you can find photographs of visits, events and special work, and find out about what is coming up in the Starfish class diary!
Welcome to Term 5!
This term our topic is on Ancient Greece. Please read the curriculum letter below to find out what the Starfish will be up to in the next few weeks.
Happy Pancake Day!
Starfish Class have been learning about Scaling in maths, and scaled up the ingredients for 32 pancakes- it was only right that we had to eat some afterwards!
(Even Miss Morgan couldn't help herself...)
Yesterday Starfish Class had a visit from the Fire Service, who explained to us what to do in case of a fire. Starfish learnt what to do if there is smoke in a room and the safest way to exit a building.
As a class we were also able to discuss hazards that could potentially result in a fire. Excellent focus, super Starfish!
Last term Year 5 and 6 were lucky enough to have a visit from Marcus Dilley, who performed a brilliant Anglo-Saxon workshop for us relating to our topic of Beowulf.
The children were all able to take part in the workshop through shouting and dancing, and some were lucky enough to get a main part in acting out characters such as Beowulf, King Hrothgar and Grendel.
This term our topic is 'Anglo-Saxons and Scots'.
Starfish will be learning where the Anglo-Saxons and Scots came from, identifying where their settlements were, discussing their beliefs and much, much more! We are very excited to see where this topic takes us!
Just a reminder that Starfish have our class Assembly this Thursday (26th January) at 9.10am. We would love to see you all there!
